Classroom Training

Scope of Training

G1 Design and Component Overview

  • In-depth explanation of G1 design and parts
  • Learn how each component supports firefighter safety

Function Testing

  • Perform critical system checks and evaluations
  • Ensure operational readiness

SCBA Level 1 Repair

  • Gain authorization-level repair knowledge
  • Understand common service and maintenance tasks

Disassembly & Reassembly Practice
Hands-on instruction and guidance on the following components:

  • Exhalation Valve
  • Shoulder Straps
  • Pull Straps
  • Lumbar Pad

No tools required, will need a G1 and mask if possible.

Class Size: Limited to 12 Students

Course Overview:

Siddons-Martin Emergency Group is proud to offer the Scott Air Supplied (SCBA) Technician 1 Class, taught by certified instructors from our service department. This 8-hour, hands-on training is essential for fire departments looking to equip their team with the technical skills needed to maintain and repair 3M Scott SCBA gear.

This course consists of:

  1. Classroom Instruction
  • Learn what a Tech 1 can and cannot repair
  • Introduction to Scott manuals and service documentation
  1. Hands-On Training
  • Guided maintenance and repair of SCBA components
  • Disassembly and reassembly of equipment
Students may damage SCBA parts during hands-on work. Damaged parts are not included in class cost and will be billed to the student’s department.

Upon successful completion, each student will receive a Certificate of Completion. This course also serves as a prerequisite for the Air Supplied Technician 2 Training.

The course is taught by Randy Downs, the Midwest Region manager. Local field representatives, Bryan Ware and Mitch Bloom will also be in attendance. This course will be a great opportunity to understand how to improve the score for your community and gain a better understanding of the ISO process.
